Our weather systems are unpredicatable despite our best advances in science. When a rolling storm transformed into an urban tornado, this family on a quiet street in Brooklyn was left with irrepairable damages to their existing deck from a massive fallen oak... In our initial meetings it was clear how important this element of their home was, not only for them, but for their upstairs tenants, a young couple with a new born! And so, we redesigned the deck to withstand all future unpredictable weather systems. We paired a steel structure, fastened to the masonry facade of the home, with a blondish brazilian hardwood called Garapa. This combination provided an ultimate strength, sure to withstand the most violent future of weather for the next 30+ years.
